Psychoeducational Evaluations

At Wellshore Psychology, psychoeducational evaluations are designed to assess a child's cognitive abilities, academic skills, and social, emotional, and behavioral functioning to better understand their unique learning profile. These evaluations help identify learning disabilities and differences, attention difficulties, and other factors that may impact a student's performance at school.

What to Expect from Our Psychoeducational Evaluation Services

At Wellshore Psychology, our psychoeducational evaluations are designed to provide a clear, personalized understanding of a child or adolescent’s learning, cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning. With our background as school psychologists, we bring specialized expertise in identifying ADHD, learning differences, reading difficulties, and other challenges that can affect academic success. Our goal is to provide families and schools with practical insights and recommendations to support learning, growth, and well-being.

  • Initial Consultation: We begin by talking with families to understand concerns, academic history, and goals for the evaluation. This helps us design a targeted assessment plan and ensures the evaluation addresses each child’s unique needs.

  • Personalized Evaluation Plan: Each evaluation is tailored to the individual. We select age-appropriate, evidence-based assessments that explore learning differences, attention and executive functioning challenges, behavior, emotional functioning, and academic skills, including reading and math.

  • Comprehensive Testing and Observation: Testing measures cognitive abilities, learning skills, academic performance, attention, memory, and emotional functioning. We also observe how your child approaches tasks and manages challenges, providing a full picture of strengths and areas for support. Input from parents, teachers, and other professionals is included when appropriate.

  • Detailed Report and Recommendations: We work closely with families and schools to ensure that the evaluation findings are understood and that recommendations are feasible and effective. Families receive a clear, actionable report that highlights strengths, identifies challenges, and provides recommendations for interventions. This includes guidance for school accommodations such as IEPs and 504 plans to help children succeed academically and emotionally. We can participate in meetings with educators to help interpret results and advocate for appropriate educational plans, such as an IEP or Section 504 Plan.

  • Feedback and Ongoing Support: We review findings with families, answer questions, and discuss next steps. When needed, we collaborate with schools, therapists, and other providers to ensure support is cohesive and effective.

With our experience as school psychologists, Wellshore Psychology provides high-quality psychoeducational evaluations that empower families and educators to support children with ADHD, learning differences, and reading difficulties, helping them thrive academically and emotionally.
