ADHD Screening & Testing
At Wellshore Psychology, our approach to autism and ADHD screening and testing is thorough, compassionate, and evidence-based. Our comprehensive process is not about labels but designed to identify strengths, needs, and provide meaningful recommendations for intervention and support.
We aim to provide families with a clear understanding of their child's profile. We understand pathological demand avoidance (PDA) profiles and have extensive experience in second opinions and complex profiles.
We also offer evaluations for teens and adults. Our providers are experienced in later in life diagnoses and understand the associated challenges, such as masking.

What to Expect from Our ADHD Evaluation Services
At Wellshore Psychology, our ADHD screening and diagnostic evaluations are grounded in a neurodiversity-affirming approach that recognizes ADHD as a difference in attention, executive functioning, and self-regulation—not a flaw. Our goal is to provide clarity, understanding, and practical recommendations that support each individual’s strengths and needs across home, school, and daily life.
-
Initial Consultation and History: We begin with a detailed consultation to understand concerns related to attention, impulsivity, activity level, organization, and emotional regulation. We gather developmental, academic, and behavioral history, along with information about strengths, learning style, and daily functioning.
-
Comprehensive ADHD Evaluation: Our evaluation includes standardized assessments, behavior rating scales, clinical interviews, and direct observation. We assess attention, executive functioning, working memory, processing speed, and emotional functioning to determine how ADHD traits show up in different settings.
-
Multiple Perspectives Across Settings: ADHD looks different depending on the environment. When appropriate, we gather input from parents, teachers, and other providers to understand how attention and self-regulation challenges impact learning, relationships, and daily routines at home and school.
-
Differential Diagnosis and Co-Occurring Needs: We carefully consider learning differences, anxiety, mood concerns, and other factors that may overlap with or accompany ADHD to ensure an accurate and thoughtful evaluation.
-
Clear, Strengths-Based Feedback and Report: Families receive a clear, easy-to-understand report that explains findings and diagnostic conclusions when applicable. Reports highlight strengths alongside areas of challenge and include practical recommendations for school supports, accommodations (such as IEPs and 504 plans), therapy, and daily strategies.
-
Collaborative Family and School Support: We work closely with families to help them understand ADHD and advocate effectively for supports. When helpful, we collaborate with schools and other providers to support educational planning and consistency across environments.
-
Follow-Up and Ongoing Guidance: After the evaluation, we offer feedback sessions, resources, and follow-up consultations to support next steps. Recommendations may evolve as needs change, ensuring ongoing, responsive support.
At Wellshore Psychology, we provide compassionate, neurodiversity-affirming ADHD evaluations that help individuals and families better understand attention differences, build on strengths, and access supports that promote confidence, success, and well-being.
