Developmental Evaluations
Wellshore Psychology conducts developmental evaluations to provide a comprehensive understanding of a child's cognitive, social, emotional, and behavioral development. These evaluations are designed to identify developmental delays, learning differences, behavioral concerns, and other factors that may affect a child’s growth and functioning at home, in school, or in other settings. Our team also has a strong background in and experience with early childhood populations and supports, including extensive experience with Birth to Five services (Child Find and Infants and Toddlers Programs).

What to Expect from Our Developmental Evaluation Services
At Wellshore Psychology, our developmental evaluations are designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of a child’s developmental strengths and needs. Our goal is to offer clear insight and practical guidance that supports healthy development and effective intervention.
-
Comprehensive Assessment: We complete a thorough review of developmental history, including medical information, educational records, and parent and teacher input. Using age-appropriate, standardized assessments, we evaluate areas such as cognitive development, language, motor skills, social-emotional functioning, and adaptive behavior.
-
Collaborative Approach: We work closely with families and, when appropriate, educators and healthcare providers to gain a well-rounded understanding of the child. This collaborative process ensures evaluations are holistic, accurate, and meaningful.
-
Individualized Recommendations: Following the evaluation, families receive a detailed, easy-to-understand report that summarizes findings and includes diagnoses when applicable. Recommendations are tailored to the child and may include therapy, educational strategies, and community or school-based supports.
-
Supportive, Child-Friendly Environment: Evaluations are conducted in a warm, welcoming setting designed to help children feel comfortable and engaged. We prioritize a positive and reassuring experience for both children and their families.
-
Feedback and Follow-Up Support: We meet with families to review results, answer questions, and discuss next steps. Ongoing support may include therapy, parent coaching, and school consultation to help implement recommendations effectively.
At Wellshore Psychology, we are committed to helping children reach their full potential by providing high-quality developmental evaluations that guide evidence-based supports and meaningful growth.
